Self Storage 101: Short Term Storage

Apr 24, 2020

When thinking about renting a unit for storage there are a few things to consider. You will need to know how much space you need, when you will need it and how long you will be using the space for.

As with Long term storage, the need for a short term storage unit could be for many reasons.  You may be re-decorating the house and need a place to keep your valuables safe and clean or you are moving and want to stage your home for prospective buyers.  This is a great way to get your belongings out of the house temporarily.  We also have a lot of customers renting storage while head away on an extended holiday or work trip.   Some reasons are more common than others but here are a few that we commonly come across.

Student Storage

If you are a proud parent who's kids are finally off to university then you may find that at the end of term they will be coming home for the holidays with a lot of extra furniture from their uni digs.  Or they may just not feel happy with leaving all their gear with housemates for long periods of time.
The other student storage need usually comes down to logistics!  Carting a trailer up and down the country at the end of each year just isn't practical and you'll save a lot of rent money if you put everything into a short term storage unit for the holidays.
